WHAT is ANKO?
theANko
is Good for Athletes
Anko is a traditional sweet spread made from azuki beans, popular in Japanese and Asian cuisine. It's a naturally sweet alternative to jams and fruit spreads, and works wonderfully as a topping for ice cream, bread, and more.
theANko is a unique sports nutrition made from anko, using azuki beans and "ONIZARA-TOU®," a pure sucrose over 99.9% in purity. You can eat it during sports or training without any mess or hassle.
theANko maintains blood glucose levels longer than typical sports drinks.
With the quality of authentic wagashi (Japanese sweets), slow-cooked by skilled artisans in a direct-fire copper pot, theANko is easy to swallow even after intense exercise — a favorite among athletes. We also guarantee that theANko is safe to consume before sports drug testing.

Comparison of ATMT (Advanced Trail Marking Test)
After ingesting theANko,
which was
an improvement of 19'34".
Compared to their pre-ingestion times, athletes who took a sports drink improved by 7.74 seconds, while athletes who took theANko improved by 19.34 seconds. This difference is likely due to the sufficient rise in blood glucose after taking theANko, compared to an insufficient rise after taking a sports drink. Based on these results, theANko is recommended for athletes who need to perform on an empty stomach and require sustained concentration during competition.
Comparison between theANko
and sports drinks in blood glucose levels
theANko:Keeping higher
blood glucose levels
The group that took theANko maintained significantly higher blood glucose levels than the group that took a sports drink. This research shows that taking theANko after practice can maintain elevated blood glucose levels for up to 7 hours afterward, making it a remarkably effective sports nutrition for athletes. It's also expected that taking theANko before exercise can help sustain high performance and prevent hypoglycemia, even during high-intensity training. Importantly, theANko contains no ingredients of concern for doping, making it one of the best sports nutrition available for athletes and everyday consumers alike.
